Yesterday my friend Meg invited us to go to the zoo with she and her kids, which was alot of fun. Andrew liked the birds and the aqaurium best. Meg's also a photographer and took this great picture of Andrew.

At the Farm

Greetings from Ohio! We're enjoying our time with Shawn's parents on their farm. Lots of tastiness, including making our own hand-cranked ice cream! See, even Andrew was helping.

8 months old!

So here's whats going on at home these days. Andrew is speaking 5 words and signing 4. He crawls quickly, and cruises along the edge of his crib. He pulls up and stands unsupported for a few seconds at a time. The boy has 5 teeth, weighs 16-17lbs and is a very happy extrovert. He's a charmer who flirts with the ladies. A very good eater, prefers finger foods to purees. And he's still nursing. We suspect he's lefthanded, and yes, he's still bald. Everywhere I go, people stop to tell me how beautiful he is. I tend to agree :)

Jet Lag

High Chair

He's a pro at sitting in the high chair now, which means we can enjoy meals as a family - no more trying to hold a wiggly baby while trying to eat, yay!

Exersaucer

While in Vegas, we spent a few hours a day just relaxing at my Dad's place. He was nice enough to buy Andrew an exersaucer, which is an activity center that he can sit/bounce in. Baby loved it!

H2O

One of Andrew's favorite things to do, we have discovered, is look at, or play in, anything having to do with water: sinks, baths etc. So on this hunch, during our trip we went to the shark reef, an aquarium, the dolphin habitat, & the Bellagio fountains - he loved them. Here's one of many pictures from those kinds of excursions.

Back from Vegas!

Had a great time visiting Grandpa Richie & Uncle Adam. I'll chronicle the trip on the blog in upcoming days. He was a really good boy on the plane - charmed all the flight attendants with his smile. No crying!

Family Man

Andrew seemed to enjoy hanging out with extended family - there hasn't been a baby in the bunch in a long long time. In attendance: his parents, uncle, great-aunt and uncle, grandfather and great grandparents.

Mama's Boy

Yesterday was the unveiling ceremony for my Mom's headstone. If one comment was repeated over and over again by guests, it was that Andrew is a Mama's Boy. He's VERY attached to me, for better or worse. Here's a photo from 6 weeks ago - so obviously this isn't a new thing. I thought it was stranger anxiety, but now suspect its just that he only wants to be with me. I'll enjoy it while I can. Soon enough he'll be a teenager who tells me he hates me!

The Walker, Revisited

These days the use of walkers seems to be a bit controversial. But we love ours - its where Andrew hangs out while we're busy in the kitchen. He's just recently figured out how to move forward in it. An earlier post indicated he only shuffled backwards. Now if I could just remember to wear closed toed shoes. Ouchie.

Decisions, Decisions

One of my favorite things to do is watch Andrew make decisions. With his new crawling ability, he's constantly choosing where to go, what to play with etc. I had no idea what he was really interested in until he was able to crawl: bosley's chew toys.

Andrew can finally entertain himself with toys for a few minutes in the pack-n-play so that I can go to the bathroom alone. Hallelujah!

The Walker

At a friends' house this weekend, Andrew tried out a walker for the first time. He's used to the jumperoo and initially was confused why he wasn't bouncing in it. But slowly he figured it out and shuffled around....backwards.

In Boston

Sorry folks, no photo update today - I'm in Boston with Andrew while Shawn does some interior painting at the house. But I will share some exciting news, Andrew is officially crawling! We put him down on the floor and he motors away.

Andrew is becoming increasingly mobile, though I wouldn't call it crawling just yet. We're enjoying the calm before the storm, as I hear chasing after a moving baby is exhausting.

On our way back from Ohio, we had a nice visit in Pittsburgh with Shawn's sister, Erin. Andrew liked her very much - he only met her once before when he was 2.5 months old.

First Food!

After acting seemingly jealous of us at the dinner table, we decided it was time for Andrew to start on rice cereal. I don't think he cared much for the taste, but obviously he had watched us long enough to know how to use the spoon!

Last Day on the Farm

Its been a lovely 2 weeks - beautiful weather, good company. Andrew's gotten the hang of being a farmhand, as you can see!
